Origin Story
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and our Sidamo roast hails from the Oromia region of Southern Ethiopia, known for beautiful natural coffees. Farmers ‘dry” process the ripe cherries by spreading them under the sun to dry naturally, which draws the pulp flavors into the bean. Coffee has been central to Ethiopian culture for a millennia, and more than 50% of the coffee grown is consumed internally. A traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony starts with roasting raw beans in an iron pan, producing rich aromas for those gathered to take in as part of the ritual. Coffee is steeped and served from a clay pot called a Jabena as part of a time-honored tradition that has brought households, families and neighbors together for centuries.
